Our Story

We're building the friendliest way to share the road

Komüte was born from a simple idea — that every car driving down the highway with empty seats is a missed connection. A missed friendship. A missed shot at lower emissions. We're a small team on a mission to fix that.

Cars were meant for people, not empty seats.

Most cars on the road are travelling with three or four empty seats. Meanwhile, somewhere along that same route, a student is paying triple for the bus, a parent is squeezing onto an overcrowded train, and a commuter is wishing the trip felt less lonely.

Komüte makes it easy for drivers to fill those empty seats with people heading the same way — splitting costs, cutting emissions, and turning solo commutes into something a bit more human.

Cheaper
Split fuel costs — typically 50–70% less than driving alone.
Greener
Higher vehicle occupancy = lower emissions per traveller.
Safer
Every driver is identity-verified with OCR + face match.
Fairer
Negotiate prices openly. No surge, no hidden fees.

The Faces Behind Komüte

Meet the humans behind the ride

A small, passionate crew of commuters, engineers, and dreamers working every day to make trusted carpooling feel effortless.

From Our Drivers & Riders
Komüte turned my hour-long drive into a daily conversation. I've made three friends, halved my fuel bill, and helped Hannah make it to her exam on time. That's it. That's the whole pitch. — Maria, Driver in Toronto · 184 trips
People commuting together in a car

The car next to you is probably going your way.

We started Komüte after one of our co-founders calculated that on her daily commute to downtown, she passed an average of 1,400 cars travelling the same direction — almost all of them with empty seats.

Buses skipped her route. The train was packed and expensive. And yet here were 1,400 strangers, every single morning, with seats to spare. We thought: what if we just introduced everyone?

Built for sharing, not for surge pricing.

Komüte isn't a taxi service in disguise. We don't dispatch drivers. We don't take a percentage of inflated peak-hour fares. Drivers are everyday commuters and travellers offering seats on trips they were already taking.

That's why prices stay reasonable. That's why the chat is friendlier. And that's why every ride is a real conversation between two people heading the same way — not a transaction between an algorithm and a stranger.

Modern city commuters and carpooling

From one Canadian commute, to a continent.

We launched in Canada, but our roads don't stop at the border. Over the next two years Komüte is rolling out across the US — starting with the northern commuter corridors and expanding city by city.

Down the line: smarter route matching, dynamic eco-rewards, and partnerships with employers who want to help their teams commute more sustainably. The destination keeps moving. The mission stays the same.

Hop on the road with us.

Whether you've got a car with empty seats or you're tired of the bus — Komüte is the friendliest way to share the next trip.
